1962 Bentley S2 Standard Steel.
Chassis number: B638CU
Registration number: Applied for.
Ordered new & delivered in April of 1961 to one S. Waite Esq of Knutsford. This car then made its way to Arizona where it resided for decades. Seeing little use there it was purchased out of an estate & repatriated to the UK. The vendor in his own words has completed the following works since acquiring the car:
"So we had to fix the brakes which meant amongst other things replacing all the rubbers in the brake cylinders and master cylinders one of which we had to replace .
The brake shoes etc had been replaced not that long ago from the looks and had plenty of meat left.
The power steering ram was also worked on and repaired as it had a bit of a leak.
The battery is new and the fuel pump.
Being in Arizona’s the wipers had not been used for years so we got those working .
The rear exhaust had to be replaced.
Other than that we spent time fixing the odd issue such as getting the front windows working properly as well as getting other things working.
The oil and filter were changed and carbs rebuilt to get it running beautifully.
We have applied for the V5 and I will get that over to you when it arrives.
I am selling the car due to a change in cisrcumstances meaning I have elected to stay in California rather then move back to the UK as was my original Plan."
The car is finished in smoke over sage green with the paintwork being old & having some blemishes in it. Really the car could use a full respray but is useable & reasonably presntable as is. This is reflected in the price. On the plus side this car has a wonderfully original interior in really fine condition. It is fitted with the optional extra seat back picnic tables & electric windows along with a large webasto sunroof.
Whilst not being quite to our usual standards of the cars we sell, this would make a great starter car & entry to Bentley Ownership with room for imporvement during the next owners tenure.
