1980 MG BGT with overdrive
Porcelain White with original Orange and Brown " deck chair" seats
The car is a time-warp — having covered a genuine 24k with a documented full service history and only 2 previous owners, 1st owner until 1984, then the 2nd until 2015 when he passed away and his son inherited the car.
The car has a ‘Heritage Certificate’ verifying matching numbers & Originality ref: 97/ 6060. Built between the 7th & 28th February 1980 & registered on the 5th March 1980 – Destination: Dutton Forshaw Limited, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
The 1st owner was a Mrs Joan Gertrude Godfrey (Bicester) who owned the car until a Mr John Cooper Lester purchased the car on the 1st November 1984; this was through Austin Rover Finance Limited (original agreement within book pack – 26th October 1984).
John’s Grandson then inherited the car on the 10th June 2015 to add to his collection of both classic and modern.
I cannot emphasise how methodical John was in retaining and detailing the work throughout the cars life, please call in and peruse over the file.
Notes can be seen in the Drivers Handbook on page 71, John noted that on the 20th May 1985 the car had covered 9’700 Miles.

Other notes to include, there is a Newspaper article within the File dated: 30th July 1996 detailing the mileage at 17K & explaining the MG is one of the last to be built at Abingdon, photos of the owners other vehicle can be seen which was a 1958 MGA 1500 Roadster (of which John’s Grandson still owns).
The car whilst in John’s ownerships was Garaged, Likewise in his Grandson’s ownership. Numerous photographs are within the File, One of which shows the car having seat covers fitted which has paid off as the original seat covers are like new.
The Britax Sunway 2 Sunroof works perfectly & does not leak!
The car has excellent oil pressure and the overdrive works perfectly, all matching Firestone F-560 Tyres are like new. The car still retains its original cassette player.
