1939 Vauxhall 14/ 6 Charming J Type Saloon DWT 968 was first registered on the 13th June 1939 and from an original brown ‘buff’ logbook we know the car s registration is original and it was finished in Almond Green. We don’t have records for the first ten years but known the 14 HP Vauxhall has been in the North West since 1949. In 1949 the Vauxhall was in Heysham, near Morecambe and the car changed hands in 1960, but stayed in the same locality all its life . Remarkably original and today it presents as it would , I feel in the 1950, s . Its tin wear is superb and solid just like its chassis . The paint finish must be years and years old and it has signs of age and use . The leather seating is original as are the door cards and head cloth . The headcloth has a few nibbles which all adds to its charm . The 6 cylinder motor is beautiful and it retains good oil pressure and does not overheat when being driven . I was realy surprised how well the 14/ 6 drove , Easy gear change from its 3 speed gearbox and the steering was lovely on the road . It looks as though the dynamo has been recently changed/ restored and a new battery is fitted . We also treated it to a set of new plugs .
