motodrome are pleased to offer GB130, a 1998/ S reg Land Rover Defender 50th Anniversary 4. 0 V8, as usual finished in Atlantis Metallic. This one is one of the 385 produced for the UK market.
50ths are fitted as standard with automatic transmission, anti-roll bars, air conditioning, six seats, factory Safari rollcage, cubbybox, lowered rear bulkhead, NAS rear step, full-length chrome sidesteps, pewter tornado alloys, all of which this retains ? it remains unusually original specification wise (except for the fitment of an aftermarket exhaust and a modern Alpine stereo (as fitted to the last Defenders) compared to some these days.
It?s rather unusual these days in that a) it?s only had 2 private owners from new, and b) apart from the largely original spec as outlined above, it?s never been restored, rebuilt, or had a full respray, hence retains over 20 years of marks, patina etc.
History wise, we have the original 50th book plus a) correspondence between Land Rover, the original owner and the original supplying dealer prior to purchase, discussing what the ?new special edition? would look like etc, the original purchase invoice, and a massive sheaf of bills back to 1999, and old MOT?s back to 2001. The speedo head has been recently replaced with a new one following the usual irritating 50th anniversary speedo issues (we think it?s covered around 135000 miles in all) so for the avoidance of doubt we?re selling it as mileage ?known incorrect?. Recent work includes: new rear crossmember and steering box in 2013, rebuilt cylinder heads (with new gaskets) in 2015, new catalytic convertors in 2017, plus regular servicing.
Currently MOT?d to the end of May 2019, and comes with 6 months warranty on sale. .
As above, original UK market 50th?s that haven?t been messed with are thin on the ground these days.
And of course being petrol it?s compliant with current LEZ emission regs.
