Mini fun without the rust. Would make a fantastic trackday sleeper.
Built and registered in 1985 by my father-in-law. This was built using a 1275gt Mini as the donor.
The DC Sportscars Sabre uses many Austin Rover Triumph components connected to a fibreglass monocoque shell. Some of the components used:-
Mini front subframe, engine and gearbox and suspension fitted with Hy-low rubber suspension units.
The rear suspension uses the Mini rear radius arms located onto a box section cross beam and Spax coil over dampers.
Door glass and side glass from ‘A’ series Metro.
Allegro headlights and radiator.
Acclaim tail lamps.
A full DC Sportscars build manual is include along with other instruction sheets for the components used during the build.
Wood veneer interior and Sabre badges made by my father-in-law.
Recent components fitted:-
New Mini 1. 3i differential, for more relaxed motorway driving.
Centre oil pick-up, stops the oil pressure dropping when cornering.
New front brake discs, pads and jump hoses.
New clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and flexible hose.
New front dampers.
New hand brake cables.
New rear brake shoes.
New Metro radiator.
New Mini RC40 exhaust.
The bodywork and interior are showing signs of its long service and could benefit from some TLC although being perfectly usable. I now must sell the car to help finance another project.
MOT until mid June 2010, tax end Dec 2009 and is cheap (£125) as classed below 1549cc.
