I have here for sale my 1971 Special which I have owned for 6 years Constructed in circa 2011 by ( in my book ) the genius creator of one of specials James Horner of Newcastle. Approximately 2000 hrs of work over 3 years. This is not a kit car but definitely a unique one off Special, there is not another one on the planet. The bodywork is constructed of 3mm steel welded to the chassis. So very ridged. It drives really well and is lots of fun. To say it’s a head turner is an understatement so be warned. Although the cab looks small I’m 6` and 13st and fit into it quite comfortably. I will say that if your taller or carry some weight you will find it a challenge. I have driven this car throughout France and on long distances and it is not a disagreeable drive, surprisingly comfy. It also has a very effective heater for those Xmas / New year break car meets.
Just fitted out with a replacement rebuilt 3litre Essex V6, heads rebuilt by Scholar Racing Engineering with high lift, fast road Cam, rebuilt bottom end, polished ports, new timing gears new front Discs. Drive is four gears with overdrive.
There are six straight through separate stainless steel bespoke exhausts made by Hayward & Scott fitted with small cherry bombs to cut out the high pitch but let through the wonderful low burble. Fantastic exhaust sounds on acceleration AND deceleration ( popping ). Please be warned that this car is very loud.
This car is registered as a Historical Vehicle with the DVLA and as so does not require payment for road tax. Although you still have to apply.
Insurance for this vehicle as a Classic car costs me just over £100 per year with a 3000 mile/ year usage.
Supplied with spare engine, gearbox, Salisbury back axle, front suspension set ups, steering rack, spare back wheel and tyre.
Also available matching bespoke trailer to match the livery of the car. Under separate negotiations.
