"Barn Find" For Restoration - Dry Stored for 37 years.

1963 Royal Enfield Constellation 700cc

We have pleasure to offer for sale as a restoration project this late manufactured Constellation which has been laid up since 1982.

The previous owner hung up his motor-cycle helmet in 1982 following the birth of his daughter, whereupon the Royal Enfield was smoothered in Grease and covered up at the back of the Garage where it has sat until earlier this year.

We have checked the frame chassis no and the engine number with Royal Enfield Factory Records and are advised that they are Matching for a 1963 manufactured Constellation - obviously a late production as general production of this model ended earlier than 63. The Engine Number starts with the prefix SCA which we are advised is listed as "Experimental Constellation 750cc" the V5 for the Bike states 700cc - we haven't investigated further but most likely of interest to prospective purchasers / RE Enthusiasts.

The Bike appears to have had replacement mudguards fitted at some point but the originals are present and supplied with other bits and bobs that came with the bike.

The Bike rolls freely and the engine turns over on the kickstart - no attempt has been made to start and we have resisted the urge to clean up in all but the smallest area... just to see !

I am no Royal Enfield Expert but everything looks / checks out to be as it should, the 30+ year old grease has protected the engine castings well and excepting a chip on a cooling fin it does look like everything else is good for refurbishment.

Restoration has been our thing for a while but it ts only recently that I started collecting Motorbikes and this being a 1963 vintage ( like me ) seemed an excellent edition - however I am reminded that I cant keep everything and in truth it is a heavy bike and a bit of a beast so I cant see myself being comfortable riding it.

Really nice project which I am sure will give someone a lot of pleasure returning it to grace and possibly very rare with the SCA engine.
