1965 CADILLAC CALAIS SEDAN - PREVIOUS SHOW WINNER
Fresh into stock with us is this amazingly rare 1965 Cadillac Calais sedan. This imposing saloon has been the absolute pride and joy of its long term owner here in the Uk . A well known car on the American car scene having won numerous awards over the years, it comes with a large glass mounted frame documenting all the awards it has won. In amongst these is a letter from Classic American Magazine in 2001 when it won “Car Of The Year” !!! Quite an achievement.
It comes complete with a very impressive history folder right back to when it was new including the factory build sheet, options and original dealers supplying invoice in toronto. It was ordered by a Doctor in February 1965 and cost some 6386 dollars - an awful lot of money in the sixties. It is a fully matching numbers car and came supplied with the following options: white wall tires, licence plate frames, electric windows, radio, soft ray glass, door guards, autotronic eye, floor mats and an undercoat. The last option is extremely important as it has preserved this car so well so it remains in a superb solid condition underneath after 55 years on the road when most have started to corrode away badly.
The interior on this car is absolutely stunning and presents itself in a condition that would shame most cars a few years old, there are absolutely no rips, tears, mark or damage to the upholstery or any of the interior trim, all the glass and chrome is absolutely stunning.
Similarly the engine bay of this car looks outstanding, being evident that it has been regularly detailed, being a show car, the inner wings look like they have just been pressed out of the factory - not a scratch on them. The previous owner informs me there is a small blow from the manifold that has just manifested itself before we bought it, this is something we can take care of easily before a successful purchase.
We have taken a video of this vehicle outlining its overall exceptional condition, there are a few items that have been highlighted that will be taken care of at the asking price: there is some corrosion on the door bottom corners on the offside aswell as some much more minor corrosion below the rear windscreen. We didn’t wish to do this prior to sale as it demonstrates just how original the car is as a whole and any prospective buyer can then buy the car in an honest fashion.
The chrome work is exactly as you would expect of any show car - fantastic!! No rusting at all on any of the trim, none of the chrome is dented either, if you look on the video you will see a small piece of pitting ; barely noticeable on the nearside rear lower bumper corner.
This car represents an amazing opportunity to acquire a very genuine Cadillac, the only one in the UK and far superior to anything that you could import from the USA, aswell as being a far superior price to US cars too!
