A unique replica of Lito model year 1964 (1960-1965). A model that was produced at Lito-verken in Helsingborg, Sweden, in 30 copies. Both the originals but also a few well-made replicas, including this machine, have collectible value today.
An incredibly powerful motorcycle that requires its driver. Prepare for a magical driving experience on the motocross track and a nice sound when you kick it off. A real piece of handwork! The Litoverken in Helsingborg was founded by Kaj Bornebusch and existed only between 1958 and 1965 but during that time had time to create a piece of Swedish motocross history. The first Lito bike was a repainted and slightly rebuilt Monark bike that former world champion Sten "Storken" Lundin competed and won gold with at the 1961 World Championships. Production started in 1961 and the motorcycles were built on a made-to-order basis. The Lito bikes were seen as incredibly competitive but also stylish and are today one of the most sought after Swedish veteran motocross machines.
With a "if others can do it – so can I” mentality, Roland Gummesson built this Lito replica. With that he won ten world championship titles including seven gold and three silver medals in the team world championship in veteran motocross. The Lito took about 1, 000 hours of work over two years to build and Roland did everything by hand and was incredibly careful that everything would be as close to the Lito original as possible. There were no drawings to start from so an old Lito had to stand model. The frame is made by Tommy Ahl and the engine is cast by Gösta Svensson. Roland first built the motorcycle as 500cc but then upgraded to 600cc.
Rhenen, the Netherlands 1995, with 11 competing nations, was the first team world championship that Roland competed in with the Lito and won gold. Then followed silver in 1996, gold in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and silver at home in Sweden in 2000. The 2002 World Championships in Wohlen, Switzerland, ended in gold and became an unforgettable moment when Roland went victorious hand in hand with teammate Kalle Lagerblad across the finish line. Then followed silver in 2003 in Denmark and gold in 2007 and 2008. In addition, Roland won several individual European Championship races with the bike.
Roland loved motor racing and started motocross in 1961. He was one of the founders of the motor club MK Jämke in Jämshög.
