With the same basic styling and engineering of the 300SL, the 190SL was designed to be a less costly option than its expensive race-bred sibling. And, although it couldn’t boast the performance as the 300SL, it was an equally beautiful car in its own right.
This exceptional 4-owner 190SL from 1961, with its Mercedes Blue paintwork and parchment interior, is simply stunning and harks back to an era of style, sophistication and substance.
Having undergone an extensive photographed restoration totally €105k just 800 miles ago, the car is perfect in every sense. The paint, bodywork, chrome, gauges, drivetrain were all restored to the highest standard, and a brand new interior and soft top were fitted.
The also car has the added benefit of a factory optional hard top with large rear window in contrasting cream, which compliments the colour of the car perfectly. From every angle, this car is staggeringly beautiful.
The original 1. 9 litre 4-cylinder engine with its twin Weber 40 DCOE carbs and floor-shifted 4 speed manual gearbox drives beautifully, and the light interior with its body-coloured dashboard with its Becker radio and array of chrome switches make every journey feel special.
This is a stunning and special car that needs absolutely nothing and is sensibly priced given the standard of restoration.
Car is currently Irish registered.
