RM Buses: AEC Routemaster RML2701 SMK701F, Cummins Engine
The Routemaster has become an icon in its own right after pounding the capital's streets for over fifty years. This classic London bus is the result of London Transport's joint venture with AEC and Park Royal to create a bus capable of working the harsh streets of London with driver and passenger comfort, economy and durability built in. A total of 2876 Routemasters were built, 2760 for London Transport.
Our most popular bus is Routemaster RML2701 which once carried a special overall advertising livery for Youngers breweries in the early 1970s during which time she was transferred to many garages as a means of maximising the publicity for the advertiser.
2004 saw RML2701 retire from service after an amazing 37 years of working in the capital. She now enjoys a more relaxed life in the north after being treated to a full refurbishment and repaint to make her shine once again.
