For Sale:
Regrettably my Overland Model 91 Tourer is for sale.
Running car with rebuilt running gear and believed restored in the 1980's and now showing a nice patina.
Member of the Willis Knight Overland Registry which is a great source of help, advice and spares.
Wheels have been refurbished and the wooden spokes are all in excellent condition.
This is a rare car in the UK, but with parts availability and support if needed from the club.
Minor upgrades such as the distributor and drive housing to make it more reliable and an easy car to drive (unlike the Ford Model T which I looked at before purchasing this car).
Starts easily, runs well and simple to drive mean that this is an affordable and manageable entry into vintage car ownership for anyone.
A spare (dismantled) engine and complete (assembled) gearbox as well as sides for the hood and a number of other spares are also available.
A Brian James lightweight trailer is also available if interested but only for sale with this car.
Willis Overland Model 91 History:
Introduced to the market in 1923, the Model 91 was initially available in four body styles—a two-passenger roadster, four-passenger coupe, and five-passenger touring and sedan—all built on a 100-inch wheelbase chassis. With a starting cost of $530, each was powered by a 154-cu. in. four-cylinder rated at 27 hp, accompanied by the company's own three-speed manual transmission. Rather than rely on an outside source, Willys-Overland continued to use its own differential design that contained semi-floating axles.
It did source Hayes artillery-style wood-spoke wheels, however. Supporting the bodywork, which was larger and arguably more attractive than Ford's Model T, was the company's Triplex suspension. Unlike a conventional semi-elliptic leaf spring suspension system, which in most cases was mounted parallel to the frame, the Triplex system was a three-point cantilever design, consisting of a pair of quarter-elliptic springs mounted at angles. The unique suspension design was used under both the front and rear of each four-cylinder powered car
Obviously stored in a garage and never used in the wet.
