1946 model 346 Indian Chief

Matching numbers bike and restored from an original bike and not an accumulation of parts. Frame checked and powder coated, new back shock springs, shafts and covers, new headstock bearings.
Front forks checked and powder coated new spindles, bushes and front shock.
Front Wheel rebuilt with new rim, stainless spokes, new bearings and seals. Brake drum skimmed and new oversize brake shoes bonded on and machined to fit, this ensures much better bite on the brakes. (original 46 only front brake lever and cable mechanism fitted)
All tin ware is original and the tanks were taken apart and re soldered
Engine was completely rebuilt and blueprinted to exact factory specifications, fly wheels are mercury balanced by Balance Masters in California and trued to factory specification, 0015” on left flywheel and 001” on right flywheel (Bike is really smooth to drive and drives like a modern Sportster) Con rods have new races and small end bushes fitted and honed using a Delipana honing machine to exact factory tolerances. New crank pin, drive shaft and pinion shaft. Crankshaft updated to the later spec sealed crankcase (separate oil in primary) new stainless steel valves, new springs and valve guides. New pistons and rebore 060”over. New Greers clutch and primary chain and as mentioned sealed primary case (Indian made this improvement on the 80” models)
Gearbox complete rebuild, new main shaft and lay shaft, complete new set of gears, new bearings and seals, new main bush honed to factory tolerance using Delapina honing machine. Converted to sealed gearbox so you can use proper EP90 gearbox oil (Indian made this improvement on the 80” models)
Oil pump completely rebuilt with new scavenge gears fitted and the distributor locating bush was replaced.
Engine breather updated with Krankvent and 1947 scraper scavenge fitted. (This improves engine breathing and helps to keep engine oil tight)
Original Linkert M343 fully rebuilt with new throttle shaft, bushes and butterfly, rubber ducky float fitted.
New Cycle Electric 12V generator and new battery fitted.

Original and correct 1946 year Corbin speedometer restored by Janus in Poland
New saddle from Oltimer Services in Poland
New paint job
Stainless steel exhaust system painted heat resistant matt black.
Bike starts and drives well and with the mercury balanced flywheels drives like a modern Sportster.
