Sprite 250 cc Two Stroke Motocross Machine Fitted with the all aluminium "Starmaker" race motor . "Sprite" were specialized frame and component builders , Supplying there frames and components to trials and motocross riders . Started by "Frank Hipkin" as a business after he built his own specials for his own use in off road events . Before long other competitors were eager to purchase Franks frames . 1964 saw "Sprite" in business the product was neat , simple and strong . Sold in kit form riders could fit engines of choice such as "Villiers" , "Triumph Tiger Cub" and different cycle components . Complete bikes were offered in the coming years the first with the "Villiers" 250 cc two stoke 34A and 36A motors at a all in price of £154 . Later complete bikes were offered such as this is with the "Villiers Starmaker" motor , So competitors could purchase a machine just like the works development riders of the period , "Roy and Don Jordon" . "Villiers" motors became unobtainable so European motors such as "Huskvarna" and "Maico" were used latterly . Sales blossomed but sadly in the late 1960, s "American Eagle Corporation" who had ordered 405 bikes went bankrupt after delivery of the bikes , "Sprite" never recovered
The "Sprite" on offer is presented in excellent condition after being prepared for Pre 65 and twin shock motocross events . Ready to use with the normal pre use checks . Last used at "Red Marley Hill Climb" 2019 were the Sprite performed very well putting in some fast runs we are told . Not Registered
