Beschreibung
Here we have an ultra rare, historic scramble/ motocross bike. The 1981 495 has the honour of being the fastest ever standard motocross bike (having been geared up with no modifications). This record, set by Dirt Bike magazine in the US at 123. 7mph has not been beaten to this day.
This bike, despite its appearance is not a show bike. Built to race, it’s been optimised using period and contemporary parts to make it competitive.
The gearbox has been rebuilt using the best parts available and the Achilles heel of these, the clutch actuator, has been modified to perfection with an innovative solution, sources from Australia. No clutch drag, or slip. On a standard bike, you will always have one or the other.
It has the 1982 Reed valve motor, much improved over the ‘81. On the suspension side, it has top spec Ohlins shocks and the bigger ‘84 model forks.
As a result of all this, it’s a fantastic race bike, coming out as a class winner last time out at Farleigh Castle. It simply won’t be beaten up a long hill!
Not being used at the moment, so reluctantly inviting interest from potential buyers. I’ve not seen another for sale for 2 years, so it a rare opportunity to own the ultimate twinshock ‘beast’.
Will come with a box of various parts.
