A pleasant example of the New Hudson Autocycle fitted with a Villiers 98cc two-stroke and holding a current V5C.
It is a pleasure to have this nicely restored autocycle for sale in our showroom. It came to us from a collector who restored the motorcycle to an excellent standard quite some time ago. It has since been kept in a dry, heated workshop as a display piece and has not run for any length of time since the restoration.
The engine fitted was one the previous owner acquired when restoring the motorcycle; it was a fully reconditioned example and was too good an opportunity to miss! The original engine (which we understand was either original or fitted from factory stock later) is still with the motorcycle and is included with this sale for spare parts. Both engines included in this sale (the one fitted and the spare) are examples of the Villiers Junior-de-luxe 98cc engine which was designed for ‘motorised bicycles’. The frame and replacement engine used are correct for 1945 according to their numbers.
Having not run fully since the restoration, it is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition but would need some fine fettling before being used! We have run the engine briefly in our yard and it sounds good and runs well but the bike generally will need tinkering with. Generally, though, it is a nicely presented example and fantastic fun to ride.
Included in the sale, alongside the spare engine, is a small folder of paperwork and the stand (as pictured).
