The Mercedes R107 model replaced W113 Pagoda and was presented already in 1971 starting with 350SL and 450SL. In 1974, the 280SL version became available, and then in 1981 came the 380SL and 500SL. Later on, there were a 300SL, 420SL and also a 560SL for the American market. The R107 model was built until 1989. Most of these models had V8 engines, but the 280SL and the 300SL came with 6-cylinder engines.
Exterior: The Mercedes 380SL looks very nice in white. It was repainted at one time many years ago. The exterior of the car is in exceptional condition. All of the delicate aluminium trim and chrome is straight and free from scratches. From factory, the Mercedes 380SL came with “barockfelgen” and I still have those on the shelf. Today fitted with “gullideckel” wheels like the later R107 had and new tyres. Also, the Mercedes 380SL soft-top is in excellent condition, should you for some reason want to take the hardtop off.
Interior: The inside of this Mercedes R107 380SL is perhaps the best feature with this car. Wonderful dark blue leather and blue carpets. Everything inside the car is close to new condition and shows the total travel of only 83, 000km in the hand of well-caring owners over the years. All instruments, lights etc are working as they should. Also, trunk area is super clean.
Engine: The new V8 engine came about in 1980 and it feels like “new” car in comparison to the older R107 cars. This car is very happy and delivers all the power you need for open driving. The automatic gearbox shifts just perfectly. It is dry underneath and this Mercedes 380SL will be delivered serviced.
History: This Mercedes 380 Convertible was registered for the first time in Germany 1983-08-10. Then, it came to Sweden 2000-11-08. The owner’s history can be verified from the time the car came to Sweden. Comes with original German owner’s manual and service book, original tools and spare. And, original hardtop comes with a stand so that it easily can be rolled into the garage during summer.
