1967 J C Midge for Sale
This midge was built during 1990’s, with obtaining plans and build manual late eighties from the midge club with the donor being a 1200 Herald. I wanted a long bonnet so used the smaller body tub (usually fitted to a spitfire chassis) made out of exterior ply skinned in aluminium. The car was put on the road in 2003, Present mileage is 3614, colour is red. The car is based on a 1933 MG J2, designed by John Cowperthwaite.
The car is registered with DVLA as a JC Midge, with Sports body, with V5 in my name MOT is due on 1st June 2021,(an MOT is needed due to chassis modifications) this is a historic car with no road tax needed.
The standard rebuilt engine runs on unleaded fuel, has a stainless exhaust. Brakes have been altered from original single brake master cylinder to use a Vauxhall Nova vacuum servo to all four wheels, all brake and petrol lines have been replaced with new, after chassis had been blasted rebuilt and painted, with all suspension bolts, rubber bushes replaced during the rebuild, the shocks are Spax Gas adjustable for soft or hard. Wheels are MGB 14inch. Wind deflectors made and fitted to the windscreen edges. Note the mudguards move with the wheels.
There is no cockpit heater, (don’t need one during the summer), has a homemade tonneau. There is no hood, but hoops are made for one.
The buyer will get a folder of receipts and photos with Haynes workshop manual and a box of spares. In the cubby above the spitfire fuel tank are a jack, wheel hammer and a spare wheel spinner.
