This lovely and now rare survivor Lada Riva 1500 Estate has just been recommissioned for use after having sat in the original owners garage since around 1997.
The car is in totally original, unmolested condition, please study the pictures to give you an idea of it`s condition as it`s wearing various scratches, small dings and stonechips! The paintwork is all original except for where the front of the wings have been repaired with some filler and touched up.
The car was Ziebarted from new and this has preserved it very well, the car has never had any welding repairs! The owner has also been generous with oil and grease around the door locks and hinges which again has preserved them very well.
Mechanically the car is now in good fettle.
After laying idle for so long it was surprisingly good and with some new fuel lines and fresh fuel it started easily and ran well.
It did need a new water pump which it has had and I have serviced the engine with oil and filter and replaced the spark plugs, coil, points, condenser, alternator belt, battery etc.
I have more or less rebuilt the complete braking system which has included a new master cylinder, front brake calipers, disc pads, sliders, rear brake cylinders, rear brake shoes, all three flexible brake hoses have been replaced as have the brake lines which are now copper instead of steel.
The tyres have all been replaced
The Lada was presented for its Mot on Saturday 17th April which it passed with no advisories.
I have a folder full of paperwork for the car which includes the original purchase invoice, service bills, old Mot certificates plus all its original handbooks
This is quite a rare car to find now as most Lada Riva`s were exported back to Russia in the mid to late 1990`s and it being a one owner with all its paperwork must make it rarer still
It`s not in perfect condition and the next owner may decide to have it resprayed to make it mint, personally I would preserve it as it is as they are only original once!
Its actually a nice car to drive and keeps us easily with modern traffic and it certainly attracts attention!
