One for the collectors... We have been given the unique opportunity to advertise for sale this BSA B50 UK specification road motorcycle in completely original condition and having only travelled 12 miles since new.

This example is set to be an investment and represents a real piece of preserved motorcycling history. Our understanding of the story goes that the original owner bought the motorcycle new from their dealership, Albany Motorcycles, in September 1971. The BSA was delivered to the buyer’s house with a tax disk in place (and which is still on the bike today) and in brand new condition. It was either driven there (presumably 12 miles) or was used only once or twice by the then owner. Unfortunately, shortly after buying the bike, the owner passed away in a road accident abroad and never returned to enjoy their new BSA. A terribly sad story which provides ample justification for why the bike was kept, untouched, in the garage for some time before letting it go to the current owner who has since kept it in a collection. We have been commissioned to sell it today in ‘as seen’ condition and a 50-year-old piece of motorcycling preservation. It has always been dry stored since new.

The motorcycle itself is the BSA B50 500cc model and named as a later (and somewhat less legendary) incarnation of the famous Gold Star. It is a remarkably well-preserved example, and it is evident it has seen no significant road use. The stickers are present on the lenses and on the speedometer, the original dispatch label is on the engine from BSA, and it even has the correct tool kit. In terms of its paintwork and general condition, it is worth remembering that this example has been stood for 50 years and so is assumed to be in non-running order. The chrome is peeling slightly in places, as is the paint, but nothing more than what would be expected. It is, generally, very well-preserved.

This is a totally unique opportunity to purchase an investment and piece of preserved motoring history. We do not see many like this and would welcome any prospective buyers to our premises near Exeter for viewings.
