Here I have for sale my lovely 1994 Jaguar XJ40 3. 2 "Sport" Automatic with 110k miles and full history file.
Late in the XJ40 run 3. 2S and 4. 0S, in 1993-1994, Jaguar introduced the Sport model. It was available only with the six-cylinder engine, and featured rosewood interior trim (as opposed to the walnut trim of other models.) Both the door mirrors and radiator grill vanes were colour-keyed to the body, which was decorated with twin coachlines. Wider-profile tires were fitted, mounted on five-spoke alloy wheels the Sport edition also features Colour Coded rear lights 3 sets of pin strips and unique 5 spoke Sport alloys. This was in addition to the already copious equipment level
This sport has a full electric sunroof which is working perfectly. The last one of these in this colour with mileage I saw sold for £7995 at a main dealer this one in terms of condition is arguably one of the best and could easily be concourse condition with a little effort.
The sport edition was the last of the XJ40's and one of the most reliable due to this. These are designed to last if properly looked after like this one has!
The sport models featured the newer suspension from the upcoming X300 and as such handle really well in corners compared to the older counterparts. These are arguably amongst Jaguar circles the most desirable of the XJ40 models. They are renowned for being the most reliable and best to drive of all the XJ40's due to the suspension and steering improvements whilst not compromising on the ride quality which is miles better than my 7 series...
The car comes with a full history all original books from new loads of invoices for pretty much anything and comes with the private plate valued at £500. She is one of the absolute last in arguably the best colour in my opinion she has a long MOT with only a couple minor advisories and is cheap to tax and really cheap to insure as a classic car.
My insurer has provided an agreed valuation of £7k on the car.
These cars are designed to be driven and her current mileage is appropriate and about right. I wanted one with low miles but not too low. I'm only selling her due to losing garage space so she needs to go.
I purchased the car from a journalist on the south coast. She was last Wax Oiled in 2018 and in 2020 she had a full underbody inspection by a renowned classic car mechanic who has actually written up in the work sheet how solid the underbody is. She has been kept garaged most of her life and this really shows in the condition.
She has very recently had lots of parts fitted to make her perfect and is now ready for use. Surprisingly quick when she wants to be in kick down mode otherwise a comfortable and refined cruiser that gets so much attention wherever it goes.
The levels of attention are similar to that if not greater than what I've had driving supercars just to give you an idea.
She's ready for shows and the gunmetal grey metallic paint truly sparkles. I would normally machine polish my cars but not done it on this as the paintwork is already so shiny smooth and without swirl marks or scratches it truly is stunning in the daylight.
She has just been serviced with new tyres brakes alternator starter motor and battery fitted and now she runs perfectly. Silky smooth driving and an ideal car for the summer.
Any questions please feel free to contact me. Viewing by arrangement in the Derby area or I can do a walkaround video of the car.
I can't really fault this car however there are a couple of things i'd want to be done if making concourse.
Battery replaced now stereo doesn't work - will be a fuse i've just not gotten round to it was fine beforehand
Sunroof has a rust spot on it. This is fine currently but will need to be treated / sprayed at some point. I have purchased the primer and the paint to do this and will include this in the sale. Not an expensive job or can sort it yourself if handy with paint!
Please note that I will only sell to someone with the garage space for this vehicle as I don't want her wasting away as she's too good for that.
To sum up this example has to be one of the best in lovely condition with a folder full of paperwork manuals etc. She drives spot on sounds lovely and is such a lovely place to be especially with the sun out and the electric sunroof retracted a perfect vehicle and one that deserves to be maintained going forwards. This is the XJ40 to own the desirable "S" model with a silky smooth gearbox the perfect suspension and steering combination makes this one desirable special edition XJ40!
