In the second half of the 1930s, the 70 series continued in the Cadillac tradition by offering a 5. 7L V8 engine, which was more powerful than that of the series 60 and less complex than the V12 of the series 80. The series 70 corresponds to the short wheelbase 131 inches instead of the 138 of the series 75 with the same engine but with the longer wheelbase, with driver division. These chassis which constituted the top of the Cadillac range were bodied by different coachbuilders such as Fisher or Fleetwood.
The car shown is a 70 series Fleetwood convertible sedan (type 7029). The factory production sheet indicates that it was ordered by Fisher, a famous Cadillac dealer from Newark, on April 4, 1937. This document also indicates that the car retains its original engine, as well as its original body as can be seen from the manufacturer's plate. These elements also show that the car was indeed delivered in black. The interior, which was also black when it left the factory, has been replaced in the past by a red leather interior with a more contrasting effect. This rare American car was acquired in 2007 in California by its current owner. He then imported it to France and drove the car for a few years, before undertaking a major restoration by a professional in Belgium. The work mainly focused on the mechanicals and bodywork, while the interior, with a beautiful patina, has been kept as it is. Since the end of the restoration, the car, which has 36, 150 miles on the clock, has traveled a few hundred miles and is in very good condition both in its condition, and is in working order. We noted that only the original clock and radio are out of order. The car comes with its beige soft top cover, duplicate keys, various manuals and a file including numerous photos of the restoration. An unusual automobile, this Cadillac will allow one to drive with the top down or otherwise, in great comfort.
