With much regret I am contemplating the sale of my much loved Blackjack Avion. These are very rare beasts and do not come onto the market often. Mine is a lovey blue, is in great condition and drives like nothing else!
Blackjack Cars was founded by the renowned car designer Richard Oakes of Marcos, Lotus, Davrian & GTM Midas fame. He designed and engineered the Avion based on Citroen 2CV mechanicals. 'Blue Eagle', as my youngest daughter christened it because of the cool doors, is the rarer aero model. It has Citroen's 602 flat twin engine which has hi-comp pistons, a lightened flywheel, 1. 5" SU carb and free flow exhaust. The Avion is not a body swap kit as it has its own bespoke chassis rather than using a modified 2cv chassis like a Lomax (I've driven a Lomax 223 as my dad has one and the Avion is a very different beast indeed).
The car is a hoot to drive, handles brilliantly, sounds like nothing else and 40mph feels like 70mph. the exhaust note is fantastic and begs you to change up and down as often as possible just for the joy of hearing the glorious noise. There are only two things that I would improve on the car, firstly the fuel gauge has never worked in my ownership (not a problem for the local hooning that I have enjoyed but would be something to do if doing more miles) and the chrome on the rear light is not great. Other than that I would describe it as being in excellent condition. Over the last couple of years I have serviced it using quality parts from ecas and have also replaced the SU carb and fuel pump.
Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description of the car. MOT is due in November but I am happy to put 12 months on the car for somewhere near the asking price (no issues last year and would not expect any this year either).
The only reason I am contemplating selling it is that I just don't get enough opportunity to drive it. I am also nearing the end of a nut & bolt restoration of my 2cv and have a 2cv pickup project awaiting me in the shed (I have found that I like the tinkering more that the driving now and an 1100 BMW engine conversion is just too tempting). I am open to sensible offers and I am happy to take you for a spin. Silly offers will be politely ignored and if it does not sell I will be quite happy to keep it!
The car is at my home in rural north Northumberland between Wooler and Kelso so please look that up as it could be a very long way from you. I am happy to discuss delivery if you are not too far away for the cost of fuel as I have a trailer that she fits on. Any questions please ask.
Mike
