Description
Hi
Welcome to the sale of this stunning Audi TT RS. Anyone like me whose automotive passion was formed around the 1980’s will simply adore this engine – the legendary 5 pot ‘warbler’.
Hats off to Audi for re-creating this engine and allowing we petrolheads to reminisce and enjoy one of the most distinctive and evocative engine/ exhaust notes of any car. Whilst most manufacturers were finding ever increasing ways of saving CO2 and fuel Audi lobbed a blinder of an engine into their TT platform and we should rejoice the fact they did!
I took this car in part exchange against my Audi RS6. And whilst I had loads of people offering to pay cash I really fancied taking the RS in because I wanted to sample that glorious engine.
I’ve enjoyed driving the car but it doesn’t suit family life (no surprise there) so it’s time to sell it and let someone enjoy the car.
One of the things I like about the TTRS is the fact they don’t really suffer from issues or foibles, unlike the RS6. They are super strong cars and take mileage and enjoyment in their stride with no nasty surprises lurking in the background. Indeed, this car feels incredibly fit and strong with no issues to report.
I was more than happy to take the car in as it has clearly been loved and well maintained and is finished in one of the best finishes to my mind – Phantom Black Pearl paint with the exterior aluminium pack and 19” alloys. It looks absolutely hard as nails hunkered down on its sports suspension!
Exterior
I’m a keen hobbyist detailer so one of the first things I did to the car was machine polish the bodywork to remove those annoying swirl marks you accumulate over the years and add some real clarity to the finish. I then topped off the paintwork with two coats of ceramic coating and a sacrificial coat of paint sealant. The paintwork now shines superbly (see pics). you could read a book off the reflections in the paintwork now, and the ceramic coatings mean the paint is protected for the next 2 years too and also makes washing the car an absolute doddle because dirt can’t stick to the car.
The wheels are in good order and are the uprated 19” rotors in ‘titanium finish’ (an expensive £1, 360 optional extra) wrapped in a full set of matching michelin pilot sport 4s tyres with loads of tread remaining – no expense spared here!
The brake calipers retain their red and white rs markings and the whole exterior is really set off by the optional extra aluminium pack which adds aluminium finishing to the front and rear bumpers as well as the rear spoiler uprights. See a car with the pack parked next to one without and the visual ‘punch’ is vastly different…
There are some stone chips as you might expect to the bonnet and front bumper but nothing worthy of note (no scratches or dents) and the car certainly looks much younger than it is and the car gets loads of admiring glances and looks.
Interior
The interior of the car is a lovely place to sit and spend time. Open the door and the cabin smells fresh and clean.
The sports seats are clothed in silk nappa leather with contrast white stitching and rs logos embossed into the backs. They look seriously premium and coupled with the aluminium interior fittings really lift the cabin. The carpets are in superb order, as are the original white edged mats, the dashboard, plastics etc.
Everything in the car works as it should with no issues to report.
Spec-wise the car benefits from:
- xenon headlights with daytime running lights
- heated front seats
- electric front seats
- sat nav
- bluetooth phone
- sd slots for music/ media
- cd player
- multi-function flat bottomed rs steering wheel
- rear parking sensors
- rear privacy glass
- folding rear seats
The drive
As good as the car is for posing and looking good it’s also incredibly good to drive with that engine at the heart of everything.
I really like this example because it marries three really good things for me. Firstly, it’s a manual gearbox car which in a driver’s car such as this is really important as it gives you a connection to the car that is missing with an automatic gearbox. Save those for the A8’s!
The second factor is that this example is still running the standard engine map/ boost and hasn’t been tinkered with. This can only be a good thing for longevity and durability. As standard the cars are rated by Audi at 335bhp but it’s a well-known fact these engines dyno at 350-370bhp from the factory so there’s plenty of punch on offer.
Thirdly the car has benefitted from a recent Scorpion decat exhaust and Revo induction kit. These items really bring out the 5-cylinder sound and above 4, 000rpm in particular it sounds simply gorgeous – all off-beat warble and battle cry. Very impressive! The exhaust adds just the right amount of noise and drama to the equation but isn’t droney or too loud on the motorway. It does sound bl00dy meaty on a cold start-up though ????
Handling is surefooted and safe and you can really use the performance if you wish due to the 4 wheel drive and traction.
The (gorgeous looking) brakes are super powerful and pull the car up no problem.
Suspension wise it’s actually pretty comfortable, all be it a bit stiffer than my rs6 was but you can easily cover big distances in the car without getting too tired.
One of the surprising things i’ve found, more so having come from an rs6, is how fuel efficient the car can be on a run. I got just under 42 mpg on a recent motorway jaunt which for the performance of this car is amazing!
The history
Service history wise this car has always been looked after absolutely on the dot with a stack of receipts and invoices to show all the work that has been done in keeping this car fighting fit.
Services include:
2012 at 9, 850 miles
2013 at 15, 370
2014 at 20, 411
2015 at 26, 407
2016 at 37, 334
2017 at 50, 669
2018 at 60, 412
2019 at 78, 008
2019 at 83, 674
2020 at 84, 883
2020 at 85, 144
The car is now sitting on 88k.
Recent spend has included servicing of the haldex 4-wheel drive system, spark plugs, rear brake pads and calipers etc. Both keys are present and correct.
The car is fully hpi clear and wants for nothing and is ready to jump in and enjoy from the offing.
The deal
I don’t want this to come across the wrong way, but i don’t need the money. This sale is not going to make me rich, but I would welcome the car going to a home that will enjoy it. I’ve priced the car at a sensible level at the price i want for it to save us the awkwardness of discussing money.
I will consider a part exchange as long as it’s something half interesting with no hidden issues or dramas so please don’t try passing a shed off onto me.
I hope that helps to describe the car adequately. I’m a genuine, serious chap (see my completely unblemished feedback) and would welcome contact from equally genuine people. If you’re a bit of a lunatic/ prone to messing people about or struggle to make a decision, then probably best to try someone else’s car?
Anyone wishing to view is more than welcome as I don’t bite and have absolutely nothing to hide but viewings will be away from my home address for obvious security reasons of telling unscrupulous people where the car is located and I will do all the driving, but I will happily show you the cars breadth of capabilities so you can see how strong the car is. No mass viewings will be entertained so come on your own or with your significant other/ decision maker only and all will be fine.
Thanks for looking and feel free to get in touch.
