We are pleased to offer this exciting Merlin MG3 Moto Guzzi engined three wheeler.
Not to be confused with lesser attempts to emulate the legendary Morgan Super Sports three wheeler of the 1930s, the Merlin MG3 (MG for Moto Guzzi in this instance) metamorphosised out of the BRA which was powered by a Honda CX500 or CX650 engine but which ceased production after approximately fifty cars and kits had been sold. An engineer by the name of Arthur Rayner recognised the potential of the design and took over the project, re-engineering it extensively to his own high standards and creating a company called Aero Cycle Cars to make the cars.
What we have here is one of Aero Cycle Cars early examples of the improved design, chassis number three. It was built in 2012 as an entirely new chassis and body with mechanicals from a donor Moto Guzzi and rebuilt as new. Since it was built it has covered a mere 4, 600 miles.
The MG3 is built to a very high standard with all aluminium bodywork and careful though given to the design. For example all the body fastenings attach to internal threads in the tubing so there is no messing about with lots of fiddly nuts and washers. Also the seating position is nice and low enabling the occupants to sit out of the airstream. The pedals are properly spaced so there is no need to wear ballet shoes as in some other three wheelers.
This particular example looks extremely smart in dark red with contrasting aluminium bonnet. A new wood rimmed Mountney steering wheel has been fitted to enhance the appearance and is nice to handle too.
The torquey 850cc Moto Guzzi engine is a much more suitable engine than the buzzy Honda CX and the car is great fun to drive as a result with plenty of urge on tap should it be required. The engine has been fitted with a special deep sump supplied by HMB-Guzzi in Germany.
The narrow tyres endow the MG3 with very fine handling and steering with plenty of feel as well as looking correct. Some three wheelers are over-tyred and dart around nervously as a result. This car drives well.
Sadly Aero Cycle Cars have ceased production, for the time being at least, making this rather a rare and desirable motor car. They seldom come up for sale so this is a great opportunity to acquire one of the best engineered three wheelers.
Please note the car is not fitted with a reverse gear.
There is a decent history file with the car containing the original receipt and Certificate of Newness plus various bills, a Moto Guzzi workshop manual and MoT history.

We would consider a classic car or motorcycle in part exchange.
