Fully restored 1976 Matra Bagheera. This classic French sports car, with its unique three seats, is a rare sight on the roads today. The Bagheera was developed by the French company Matra. Matra had a long racing heritage, and even though the car was based on a lot of Simca parts, many features are only found in racing cars. For example the mid/ rear placed engine and the individually adjustable corner heights/ weights.
I have owned and restored this car since 2006. It has been taken apart to its bare bones. The inner steel structure has been fully stripped from paint, all rust repaired to a high standard, epoxy base coated and given a top coat of polyurethane paint.
It’s not a strict original restoration, there are a few changes and improvements, but the goal has been to keep it to the spirit of the 70:s. For example the interior is redesigned, and is using a mix of modern vinyl and alcantara in a color scheme to suit the selection of the exterior Orange color. The engine is the 1. 4 litre and it’s converted to fuel injection and has separate coils per spark plug. With closed loop lambda regulation it now runs much smoother than the original - and gets a better mileage.
It recently got a gearbox overhaul including a new sync ring on 2:gear (notorious issue), and a new clutch disc.
