1947 Sunbeam Talbot 10 Sports Tourer
Following on from the Talbot Ten of 1935/ 6, which was effectively the replacement for the sporting Hillman Aero Minx, for 1938 the Sunbeam Talbot marque came into being and a revised 10 hp range was announced, billed as ‘Britain’s Most Exclusive Light Car’.
Well equipped and available in Saloon, Drophead Coupe and Sports Tourer versions, the Sunbeam Talbot Ten was to prove very popular, being good value, with the 4 seat Sports Tourer priced at a very competitive £250.
The range was to continue after the war, until 1948, when it was replaced by the Sunbeam Talbot 80.
A 1947 example, first registered in January the following year, this Sports Tourer was the subject of a chassis – up restoration some years ago.
It remains in very good order, having been carefully looked after and well maintained. During the past few years it has benefited from considerable expenditure, with many thousands having been spent. Upgrades include an alternator, electric water pump and fitment of a Panhard rod to the front axle, to enhance handling and steering characteristics.
Full weather equipment is provided, including hood bag and full tonneau cover. The upholstery, which is in dark green leather, is also in very good condition.
A vast file of bills and information is included, along with the original buff RF60 logbook plus a number of photographs showing the restoration in progress. Also provided is a near-mint copy of the Driver’s Handbook.
