Ambassador motorcycle for sale. 1953 and very original.

the mileage given is on the clock not what the rebuilt engine has done, that is zero
this bike has the 197cc villiers engine that has been rebuilt. When i bought it, it would not run, since then it has been re-bored, new points, condenser, re magnetised, new coil, new crank case seals. Exhaust stripped and cleaned, carb overhaul, re-wired but not completely finished ( more info available) very little required to complete with know how. The tank was cleaned out. It has now been started and run on the bike stand.
this bike is very rare, 13 on the register i believe, and also because it is so original with the extra bits added when new and in its original condition. I think it looks brilliant as is and should stay showing its history, life and patina.
you will never get a repeat of this.

an extract from the ambassador expert in a letter to me follows;

what you have is a 1953 ambassador supreme. S3539810. the "s" denotes supreme; The "353" indicates that it was built in march 1953 (the model year ran from september to september) and the "9810" is a sequential production used across all models in the range, but i can tell you that "9810" is absolutely correct and confirms the machine as being exactly what it is.
as you probably know, the supreme was the name given to the top of the range model, between 1951 and 1958. yours is very original, as you mention. Naturally, the pillion pad, rear footrests, rear reflectors and leg shields are all period extras.
so, yours is one of currently 13 known surviving 1953 supremes. The register currently records just 265 surviving ambassadors in total, worldwide, although i suspect the true number is probably three or four times that. Considering the factory had an eighteen year production run and probably made somewhere in the region of 10, 000 motor cycles in that time, you get an idea of their present rarity.

the history of these bikes and there creator is very interesting so well worth looking up.

it needs a battery, (i have a new unused one that i think has died due to lack of use) and a battery box. The centre stand lug has been broken, (it could have a piece re-brazed) so no centre stand, a side stand has been bolted on for now by the previous owner.
i am open to sensible offers or maybe a swap
