Description
For sale is this rare Sherpley Speed 6 [RHD] from 1977, a copy of only 27 vehicles built worldwide by the British automobile manufacturer Sherpley Car Company in Oldham in the county of Greater Manchester. All copies built by Sherpley have been lovingly handcrafted and "of course" with many charming details, optically based on a well-known model from the 1930s. At this point, connoisseurs have certainly long known which original vehicle is meant here. A truly English classic, where the price in most advertisements is often only revealed in response to serious and serious inquiries ... because these are usually in the 6-digit range. Insanity ! With the Sherpley Speed ??6, however, this is different for all lovers of English pre-war classics with a smaller budget and may now have the opportunity to fulfill this automobile dream. The basis of the Sherpley Speed ??6 is a Leyland Sherpa, an English transporter from the 70s or it is based on a combination of the extremely stable ladder frame of the Sherpa and essential parts from the Ford Granada. A Vauxhall Velox from the 50s was used for the engine and gearbox. A long, pardon, large 2. 3 liter 6-cylinder (OHV) in-line engine with 60 kW / 82 PS of power that fits the front, which fires the car sufficiently to keep up with today's traffic without any problems.
We personally test-driven it several times for the purpose of this expertise. 80 ~ 100 km / h are no problem at all for the car. The automatic transmission, albeit a bit of a break in style, helps to concentrate on the road and the steering ... because here you need BOTH hands on the steering wheel ;-) !!! If you take a quiet look at the customer's vehicle or our current recordings, then this British curiosity here in Germany is not only a one-off on four wheels, but also a real eye-catcher with its countless loving details including authentic patina. Nowhere are you safe from a quick snapshot with your smartphone or the often justified question: "How old is it?" Well, you know better from this point on and hopefully forgive us this little lie. As the photos show, the car including the convertible top is complete and, with the exception of the Brooklands window (passenger side), mostly undamaged. The underbody was partially painted and, like the engine compartment, is optically a bit adventurous in terms of cabling, etc., but this is typically English. Nevertheless, except for the speedometer, all displays in the dashboard and the lighting system such as indicators etc. work. Finally, the front brakes were completely renewed. If you are seriously interested, nothing stands in the way of a test drive! We look forward to your inquiry.
The car has a english registration ( V5-Doc present ) and is located near Aachen (Germany), right on the Belgian and Dutch border. The car can be delivered to all of England by our partners for a surcharge. Prices on request.
