Original 1979 Kawasaki KZ1000C2 Police bike as used in the late 70s early 80s series CHiPs
Odometer is showing around 35k miles
Genuine C2, the original Kawasaki built police bikes were the C1, C1A and C2, these were the models used in the TV series. Not to be confused with the later 1982 -2004 KZ1000P which were quite a different bike altogether.
This particular bike was imported earlier this year . had been sitting unused for around 28 years.
We have done the following to make this a usable and legal motorcycle which is also documented on Youtube-
Changed the engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filter and sump drain plug.
Fitted new 12 volt battery
Rebuilt the carbs and fitted new intake rubbers and carb to airbox rubbers
Rebuilt the rear brake master cylinder and fitted a new flexible brake hose, the caliper and pads were in good order.
Replaced the front brake master cylinder .
Rebuilt the front brake calipers with new pistons , seals and bleed nipples.
New brake fluid front and rear.
Gone through the electrics, only one of the lights worked, now all lights, brake lights, head and tail, indicators, hazzards and pursuit lights are all in working order. Most of the bulbs are new, it's had a new sealed beam headlamp unit, new flasher relays and a rebuilt light switch.
We replaced the speedo and rev counter damper rubbers which were perished.
The bike was only missing its Police items, siren, radio and radio box. We fabricated a nice radio box and mounted an aerial plus we obtained the correct Motorola MCR100 radio to finish the look. We also sourced NOS rear pursuit lights.
Looking for a siren but this is a work in progress
This bike now starts on the button and runs and rides very well. It is showing no signs of excess engine wear and does not smoke or rattle and runs lovely. I have ridden the bike for several miles and she rides great. Use as is or take her to the next level.

We have also registered the bike with the DVLA, correctly as a "Historic" vehicle so she's exempt from MOT and Road fund license.
You can see the condition, it's in good original condition in its original paint. They are only original once.
Use as is or complete a cosmetic restoration, personally I think that would spoil the originality but hey!
Mechanically this is ready to go. Please note no stupid lowball offers, these correct early "C models are rare and commanding more money year on year. We have £5000 invested in this bike including cost of the bike plus new parts and that's not including any labour. So we'll not be giving her away, if we don't find an appreciative new owner she can stay with us and appreciate in value.
