Description

The brand Matford was created by the collaboration between the manufacturers Mathis and Ford and is almost forgotten. Emil Mathis was a french car pioneer. He worked with De Dietrich and Bugatti and in 1906, the Auto Mathis Palace in Straßburg was Germany's largest car dealer (the Alsace region was part of Germany at the time). Starting in 1925 Mathis cooperated with the American car industry and together with Ford, founded the Matford brand in 1934.

Our sporty Cabriolet Matford V8-48 comes with a body by Labourdette. Its high-torque V8-engine still drives confidently today. One of its specialties is the 2-gear rear axle from Columbia (USA). This gives you 6 forward gears and its engine speed can be decreased by 30%. This rare classic is completely restored, both technically as well as visually, verified by extensive photo documentation. The story of the Matford brand is a fascinating one and a classic like this one stands out from other pre-war models!
