Description
Among the various declinations and applications of the ever-beloved Vespa, this unusual TAP model (Aero Parachute Troops) was born in the war years of the early 1950s. Designed by Piaggio as a military vehicle for the parachute troops of the French army, it was equipped with 1 cannon (without recoil, 75 mm, produced in the U. S. A. and used by all the troops of the Atlantic Pact), 6 ammunition, 2 fuel tanks. and a small trolley. A vehicle that, despite its weight of 115 kg, could boast high handling that made it perfect as a light tactical vehicle, making it a winning weapon on the war front. This Vespa was parachutable directly onto the battlefield: this is why it is reinforced with a tubular bumper to absorb the shocks of landing. The 150cc Piaggio engine guaranteed excellent reliability and a range of 200km. It represents a real collector's item, with a production of only 600 pieces between 1956 and 1959 in two camouflage colors: sand and green.
