Regular browsers of our Showroom will know that it is not a regular occurrence for us to host a 380SL, let alone an example in right-hand drive and finished in Petrol Blue (877). The 380SL was produced from 1980 to 1985, with 53, 200 units leaving the factor of which 88% were left-hand drive with American specification energy-absorbing bumpers and a reduction in power. Despite the M116 V8 lump under the bonnet, the American specification 380SLs would only yield circa 150bhp, almost 70 shy of the European examples. Only 1258 units would be sold in the United Kingdom, making this a very special example indeed.
We are delighted to present this 380SL in the inimitable Petrol Blue (Blue-Green) finish which is truly stupendous when basking in the sun. The iridescent finish offers you a whole host of colours as the light bounces off of the Germanic angles, causing envious classic car peers who opted for dark greens...
The paint finish is in fantastic order with very little signs of age - testament to the quality and number of layers of paint used by Mercedes-Benz. The body colour matched steel hubs are in equally good condition, with no chips or flaking to the steel hubs. Inside, you are welcomed sumptuous leather in a cream colourway that blends perfectly with the exterior colour way. Former keepers have retro-fitted air conditioning which is in good working order. This example also features air conditioning, cruise control, electric windows, rear leather seats and electrically adjustable passenger mirror.
