Description

1955 Triumph Speed Twin
Reg. no. KVY 659
Frame no. 60574
Engine no. 5T 60574

Edward Turner’s Speed Twin caused quite a sensation when it first appeared in the 1937 motorcycle show. Other vertical twin engines at the time were bulky, heavy pieces of engineering whereas Turners design was narrower and lighter with an exemplary performance that could achieve 100 mph under the right conditions. By 1955 the speed twin had a stronger 8-stud cylinder barrel, telescopic forks and a swinging arm frame along with several other improvements and was finished in its easily identifiable Amaranth Red colour. It was no surprise that with its excellent handling, performance and comfort it was used by so many police forces around the country. This bike is presented in very good condition and said by the owner to start and run well. Comes with – a current V5C, an old V5C, an original buff logbook, MOTs from 1993 to 2004 and tax discs from 1991 to 2004.
