1934 Coventry Eagle 150 cc "Silent Superb" , Well known for its quality bicycles and
Established as a Victorian bicycle maker, the company began under the name of Hotchkiss, Mayo & Meek. The company name was changed to Coventry Eagle in 1897 when John Meek left the company . In 1898 they were developing motorized vehicles and by 1899, had produced their first motorcycle. All Hand built from components and high quality , By the time of the first World War the range were powered by Villiers and Jap engines , During the early 1920s, the models changed depending on what engines were available
In the 1930s they had launched a range of sporting bikes under the "Falcon" brand. The company built motorcycles but not on a scale such as Triumph or BSA , They concentrated greatly on their racing bicycles. By the mid 30, s and in reaction to the "Great Depression" Coventry Eagle concentrated upon small capacity motorcycles but there designs were superb having pressed steel frames and forks with stylish looks of the period , One such machine is our "Silent Superb" , First registered on the 31/ 3/ 1934 with its original registration number of CZ4666 . I have the original Buff Log Book showing the same owner from 1959 to 1997 and them the latter owner up to 2022 . The bike displays an original tax disc from 1948 . As far as we are aware the Coventry Eagle came off the road in the 1960s and was in storage . It remains in the totally original condition you see today . It has been carefully recommisioned with new spokes , Tires , Cables , Brake shoes , Fuel tank cleaned out and ignition work . It now runs and rides .
