Scarce 1926 Aveling & Porter Steam Tractor, reg. no. PPJ 7142, engine No. 11705, believed to be an M class. Offered for sale by direction executors, this engine affectionately known as 'Nippy', has an interesting history. Painted in the livery of Dagnall Ltd of Chesham Bois in Buckinghamshire, the engine is believed to have been owned by the Taylor Brothers of Wimbish, Saffron Walden Essex, before it was sold in 1980 and most recently in 1987 to its now late owner. The late owner enjoyed using and showing Nippy until around 2006, when the engine was moved into storage, remaining there until the Autumn of 2022. Following our instruction we have had a preliminary boiler inspection conducted by Jonathan Wheeler, the report is available to view within the images. Now requiring recommissioning, this represents a rare chance to acquire a desirable Aveling & Porter steam tractor, and viewing is highly recommended! N. B. We have been advised that the injectors, pressure gauge and chimney are not currently with the engine. Whilst we have been unable to locate these where the engine was stored, if they can be located, they will be passed on to the new owner.
