Anyone looking for a really sound retro van ride? This Tranny is as a proper genuine old van, only 58500 miles on the clock, very original and unmolested and it has a full MOT. Sensibly priced, electronic free, simple mechanics, will happily go to work, shows, events or camping.
First registered July 1990, we understand it’s a 2nd Generation, pre-face lift 100L with the 2. 5lt diesel engine and five speed box, single rear wheel, LWB, semi high top, with N/ S sliding door and twin passenger seat.
Starts, runs and drives exactly as it should, we drove it back over 30 miles with no problems or issues, pulls well, stops well, see the video, they have a distinct and recognisable engine noise all of their own these old Transits.
Completely original cab, untouched dash, seats are very good, headlining is good, back of the seats are good. Still has matching dealer supplied front and rear number plates and rear “Perrys” badge on the back door, still got all the little Ford stickers in the windows, still running all four original Ford wheel trims.
Bodywork is very straight, doorsteps and sills are solid and look to be totally original, still got the VIN number stamped in the driver’s side footstep and VIN plate and Ford stickers on the passenger side footstep, I have taken loads of underside pics, there are 22 on the video which you can pause and inspect. Looking inside you can see the panels and roof are virtually dink free. It has seen some paint on the lower panels and the upper original paint could do with a good flat and polish, close inspection will find minor defects, it’s a work vehicle, but overall, this is a tidy straight van.
We have checked the fluids for level and contamination, no signs of any major leaks or drips after the drive back or making the test drive video, no smoke from the rear when pushed hard. Clutch is good with plenty of bite and no slip, brakes are good (see them lock up on the video brake test), handbrake is good, all the lights, flashers and wipers work as required for the just passed MOT.
58k miles on the clock, sadly no history to confirm, but looking closely at the seats, steering wheel, gear knob, floor mats and pedals, this van has done nothing. Its HPI clear with a printout dated 14th April 2023, DVLA checked and we’ve downloaded the MOT history which corresponds with the low mileage. It has just been MOT’d before it arrived and the test runs until 12th April 2024.
Why is it so cheap compared to similar vans? We are realistic sellers and our stock always sells quickly, this is a 33 year old working van, there is a chip and small crack in the windscreen (out of drivers view), the underside is solid but scabby, needs cleaned off and undersealed, there is one tiny hole in the load bay floor where the spare wheel has been sat bouncing about, the drivers seat base wrap around plastic is broken slightly at the top, the passenger window winder is missing the end knob, the original radio just buzzes and the ariel is missing from the roof, previously mentioned minor body flaws and no history or logbook, the buyer will need to apply, full printed invoice with VIN and reg number supplied along with filled out application forms for the DVLA.
The van is priced accordingly having allowed for all the above, honestly and upfront, mentioned points, we will not sell for any less or consider any offers thank you. First to pay the asking price owns a very genuine van.
An honest old Transit that has been very fairly described and demonstrated, not be too many of these about, don’t miss it.
