Designed as "a car on two wheels", this scooter was produced in Germany by Maico (initially known as Maisch & Co) between 1950 and 1958. Its light alloy bodywork was particularly futuristic for its time and offered optimal protection for the rider, while the passenger also benefited from a comfortable seat. This example has a 175cc engine and a 4-speed gearbox. This is one of 5 beige-coloured units sent to Finland for the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. It was acquired by a watchmaker from Turku that same year. Its second owner, a Finn who was moving around with an identical model at the time, bought it in 1979, as stated by a transfer document included in the file alongside copies of the manuals, despite the beautiful scooter being complete but disassembled. This was followed by a restoration spread over 5 years, according to original specifications and keeping as many original parts as possible. It was not driven much after that and its third owner displayed it in his living room as a design piece, while starting it regularly. Maico Mobil vehicles are highly sought after today and the ones that are well preserved with clear and documented history are very rare. This specific one is therefore an exceptional opportunity to ride in a unique way a particularly elaborate machine.
