Up for auction at the prestigious Silverstone Festival, we present Nick Whale's exceptional R5 rally car that is sure to captivate motorsport enthusiasts. This Ford Fiesta R5, meticulously built on a recent R5 Ford Fiesta Shell, incorporates the running gear of the renowned Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X , resulting in a powerhouse of tarmac rally performance.
Recently completely stripped and rebuilt by the esteemed Dom Buckley Motorsport, this remarkable vehicle boasts an extensive specification that underscores its immense capabilities. With initial parts costs alone totalling £140, 000, the car has since undergone a complete rebuild ~ including the complete engine, gearbox and differentials under the expert care of Dom Buckley Motorsport IRS.
Now complete with the freshly rebuilt engine, gearbox, and differentials the car is now turnkey and ready to dominate the Circuit rally championship. It adheres to the stringent regulations set by Motorsport UK's CAT2, ensuring compliance and safety. Not only does the Fiesta possess the power and allure of an R5 Fiesta, but it also benefits from the running costs associated with a Gp. N / R4 car.
Prior to this year’s rebuild it has completed a mere 150 competitive tarmac stage miles, achieving a commendable 7th overall position at both Oulton Park and Cadwell Park among a field of 88 fiercely competitive cars. Equipped with top-of-the-line features such as a Drenth sequential paddle gearbox and 3-way adjustable canister Reiger dampers to provide superior handling and stability. The 2000cc engine, equipped with a 34mm restrictor, generates an astonishing 330 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. Its exceptional components include forged rods, pistons, roller bearing, twin plate clutch, sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shift, Cosworth chassis loom, Cosworth dashboard, and AP Racing triple pot brakes. Inside the cockpit, Sparco carbon seats meet FIA 8855-1999 standards, Sabelt 5-point belts meet FIA 8853-2016 standards, and a flocked dash completes the professional racing environment.
Additional features comprise a dry break fuel filling system, AP Racing pedal box, carbon door cards, and an R5 roof vent. Complementing the performance enhancements, the Fiesta comes equipped with 12 Speedline rims fitted with Michelin tires purchased in 2021/ 2022. The car has been professionally maintained and carefully managed, ensuring optimal reliability and performance throughout its competitive journey. In the spirit of transparency and adherence to safety standards, all seats, belts, and extinguishers are up to date, affirming the vehicle's readiness for immediate rally action.
