MGB GT: Full Restoration/ High Specification/ Superb
The MGB GT, designed by Pininfarina, was introduced in October 1965, and can claim to be one of the earliest sports hatchbacks to go into volume production. The rear deck offers excellent luggage space with a 2+2 option and improved aerodynamics gives the GT a top speed in excess of 100mph.
At Milestone Classics we are always seeking nice MGB GT’s - we look at many and buy very few. We were therefore delighted when Bob Lee, a retired MG specialist in West Sussex with over 50 years of knowledge asked us to sell his own personal BGT around a year ago.
Bob had known his MGB GT from day one. The first owner was Ray May, a local car enthusiast who raced Allard’s. Ray refused to use the local British Leyland garage (he had bought the car from Wadham Stringer Ltd (Guildford) preferring Bob’s skill on all things MG. The GT was moved on after a period but in 2000 Bob’s daughter saw the car on a driveway near her home in Surrey and a deal was done.
Since 2022 the GT has been owned by a retired electronics engineer in Kent who has invested a lot of time/ effort and money detailing the car to his standard – today she is a credit to both owners.
