HERE is my Hillman Minx Series III, registered in August 1960 and with its correct spec 1500cc engine. These Series IIIs were the pick of the bunch for me when it came to Minxes. Those rear fins and the two-tone colour schemes they carried. Anyway, probably always under-rated back in the day, they stand out from the crown now looking so typically 1960s. This one was sold by me four years ago to a family who have thoroughly enjoyed it, taking it to shows and enjoying weekend drives around the countryside. It's a bonny thing, sound underneath and with the most delightful typically Rootes Group interior. It is simply just so period. It's got bits here and there when it comes to paint etc but this proud old girl will probably out live all of us. For the money, probably nigh on impossible to find better. If you want a 7k Minx, then go and pay 7k. This is a lovely, cared for, lived in, driven Minx. It's how I like my cars. I hope you do.
I have been trading in classic cars on a full-time basis for 25 years now. My descriptions are based on my own opinions and I do try as hard as I can not to be led by the heart as I have been obsessed with "older cars" ever since I was old enough to know what a motor car was! Please don't come and spend an hour hitting them and making the mistake of comparing the vehicle's condition to the one-year-old Audi you arrived in. They are antiques on wheels with stories to tell. They represent a part of social and economic history from the last Century. They need to be given good homes where time and love can be lavished on them. I do not restore them or spend countless hours polishing them. I consider myself to be one of the UK's foremost finders of eclectic classic cars and hence my pricing knocks many of my competitors into a cocked hat. Well, maybe a trilby would suit my little world better.
My cars are sold as old, mainly out-dated machines and are sold without any comeback whatsoever. Please don't ring a week down the line and tell me that the rev counter isn't working or that your friend had a look and found a hole somewhere. Their age dictates that work will always be ongoing. If you are not prepared for that, then don't buy a classic car. This example is 63-years-old! They are my terms and conditions.
