HG08AZN was one of the first Caymans we sold back in November 2018, and we are delighted to welcome it back to Flat Six Classics, it’s owner having decided to change to a 981 Boxster S after nearly 5 years of ownership.
Presented in classic Arctic Silver with black leather interior, HG08AZN has now covered 67, 726 miles, and has an excellent service history, showing 10 stamps in the maintenance record, all from Porsche main dealers or recognised Porsche specialists. Options fitted when new include hard-backed sports seats with embossed Porsche crests, 19? ‘lobster claw’ alloy wheels, PCM2 Porsche Communications Management, BOSE sound system, ParkAssistant rear parking sensors, and automatic air conditioning.
The previous owner (our customer) has invested in some well-chosen enhancements to the car, including a Carnewal sports exhaust, 20mm lower Eibach springs, Alcantara gearknob and gaiter, handbrake lever and steering wheel in Alcantara and leather, and a fire extinguisher. He also had fitted a Pioneer touchscreen head unit, incorporating DAB, Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
The key thing to be wary of with any Gen 1 Cayman S is the possibility of bore scoring to the cylinders - fortunately this car was the subject of a £7, 000 engine rebuild in early 2018 at 55, 000 miles, following discovery of scoring in cylinder no. 6, which is where it usually starts. The rebuild was undertaken by Dal Jones Automotive, and included new top hat cylinder liners, pistons, main, big end and thrust bearings, new timing chains, tensioners and seals, refurbished cylinder heads, new oil pump and filter housing, and all new gaskets and seals.
On the road, HG08AZN drives superbly, the 295bhp 3. 4-litre flat six providing scintillating performance, combined with wonderfully direct steering, balanced handling and powerful brakes. These Cayman S models are really superb driving machines, with just the right level of performance for our A- and B-roads. The sports seats provide ample support, and the Alcantara touchpoints in the cabin add to the sporting feel.
We will prepare the car for sale with a brake fluid change and the fitment of new rear tyres, plus a full inspection by our Porsche trained technician in our workshop. All our cars come with our own comprehensive 6 month/ 6, 000 mile warranty, and all 987 Caymans are ULEZ/ Euro 4 compliant.
