Description
EMERGING from the cavern of cool cars at Martin Howey Classics (Est. 25 years) is a mega rare 1965 Singer Vogue Estate. Now, I will hold my hands up here. I confess to being a Rootes Group fan but I never knew that Singer made a Vogue Estate. The reason probably being that I have never actually seen one before, let alone owned one. So, rather than the much more simple looking Hillman Super Minx estate of which quite a few are still knocking about, here we have the up-market, twin headlight, luxury Vogue in all its glory in estate car form! Fascinating. I just can't ever recall seeing this model not even in childhood.
Anyway here it is. Two owners from new with the first one keeping her for 40 years and the second until recently when she came my way. Really bonny in metallic silver with camel coloured interior and that delightful Singer wooden dash. She is the 1600cc model with alloy head and has such a sweet engine. Body and paint not too bad at all for a 58-year-old car. I had plenty of eight-year-old cars during the 70s and this is generally how they looked back then at just eight. This old girl is 58 and so please keep everything in context. I think it is possible that this is the original paint work and the bulk of it is fine to be fair. Wheel arches have been tinkered with in an effort to keep them in order and it would take very little to tidy them up. Those mega wide front wings, door bottoms, rear end and sills could just be left alone. She is ever so stylish in estate car form. So, go on. Be different!
My classic cars are motoring antiques. This car, for example, is 58-years-old. It's not two, five or even ten-years-old as your own everyday car may be. It has been in service for more than half a century and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. However, faults on these old girls are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote.
I have now been established as a one-man band classic car dealer for 25 years and pride myself on my buying prowess and - due to small margins - my prices which I firmly believe are up there among the very best in the UK classic car marketplace.
Thanks, Martin. the details below.
