Beschreibung
Designed by Roger Blockley, the first Gentry was assembled in 1973. The car was known as the RMB Gentry and built on a Triumph Herald chassis. Since then as well as using the Triumph mechanicals, two new chassis were designed, one to accept components from the Ford Escort MK II, Ford Cortina MK 3 and latterly Ford Sierra. The engines and mechanical parts that can be used cover a wide range and include Triumph and Ford products. Over 2000 cars have been completed, approximately 70% of these having been built by their individual owners. These cars all vary slightly due to several factors, such as the original donor car, the owners personal preferences and parts availabilty. The overall attraction of the car being it's amazing similarity to the Classic MG TF at a fraction of the cost.
The 1998 example we offer here was was assembled with Ford Escort MK II runnong gear. The engine was stripped and rebuilt and mated to a 5 speed Sierra gearbox. The car is finished in Brooklands green and has chrome wire wheels. The car has covered something like 29, 000 since completion.
