The Mercedes G-Class, referred to as the "Geländewagen ("Cross-Country Vehicle"), was first developed as a military vehicle. However, its rugged, go-anywhere versatility made it quite desirable for those living outside of cities, so it was offered to civilians from 1979. Numerous outfits throughout the world utilize the G-Class in their armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and governments. With such an iconic design, it's no wonder the vehicle has gained a world-renowned reputation - of course, its many on-screen appearances have helped solidify its enduring style.

American buyers were largely unable to acquire a G-Class until 2002 when Mercedes-Benz made a push to move the vehicle upmarket. We only received the long-wheelbase hardtop variant, with performance-minded V8 power and automatic transmissions. As such, many have never seen an off-road trail or mountain pass the vehicle was designed to cross. However, with the 25-year import rule, more and more of the original-style models have made their way to our shores. Of these, few are lucky enough to receive a full, body-off restoration offered by the experts at Expedition Motor Company (EMC).

EMC works almost exclusively on a very specific G-Class, the 250 GD in military configuration. Referred to as the "Wolf", these SUVs have a folding windshield, be a cabriolet, and come solely with a 2. 5L Inline-5 Diesel. With such a laser focus on a single model, EMC has carved a niche for themselves in producing one of the most capable off-roaders in the world. To do so, they spend over 2, 100 hours and $40, 000 on parts to fully revitalize their vehicles. During restoration, every body is stripped to bare metal and media blasted prior to re-painting. Inside, bolstered bucket seats are covered in hand-crafted upholstery, providing a comfortable experience for up to four passengers. A custom-built, extra-strength rollbar adds extra roll-over protection, while LED lighting and an updated stereo add modern refinement. All told, EMC's G-Classes are sure to stand out in any crowd.

The 1993 Mercedes-Benz 250 GD "Wolf" Cabriolet on offer is beautifully finished in Mojave Silver Metallic over a Cocoa vinyl interior with a removable Black soft top. In addition to EMC's extensive list of standard equipment, this G-Class includes Vintage Air climate control, a snorkel for deep water fording, a wooden rear floor, and a full-coverage removable soft top. Under its beautiful skin lies a fully rebuilt, virtually indestructible diesel connected to a four-speed manual transmission with low range and a two-speed transfer case. Please visit EMC's website at - details above for more information and photographs along with a demonstration video.

Naturally, the result of EMC's hard work is a vehicle that preserves the look and character of the original military-spec 250 GD, but comes sprinkled with high-end improvements for a more enjoyable experience. This 250 GD "Wolf" cabriolet is a superb example of a rarely-seen-in-the-US Mercedes-Benz off-roader that will be the envy of onlookers whether at a show, off-road event, or cruising through downtown. We proudly offer this remarkable vehicle to the most discerning collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires the very best!
