The Ford Transit MS-RT R-Spec Limited Edition is very, very different from the standard builder’s hack. With only 50 ever built, this remarkable vehicle stands as a testament to unparalleled craftsmanship and performance. Engineered with precision thanks a partnership between Van-Sport and Malcolm Wilson’s M-Sport - the company behind Ford’s World Rally Championship for more than two decades - these rare beasts were produced in a tiny run.
This van may have started out as a standard Transit but that’s where the parallels end. Standing out from the herd, the MS-RT R-Spec features a bespoke body kit, custom alloy wheels, and an enhanced interior with premium leather and suede trim.
That’s not to say the changes made to the R-Spec are purely cosmetic. Eibach springs lower its ride height, while the standard 2. 0-litre four-cylinder Ecoblue diesel engine has been tuned to produce 205bhp and 359lb/ ft of torque. MS-RT has also equipped the R-Spec with uprated brakes, as well cosseting bucket seats up front. There’s a twin sports-exhaust system, too, to ensure you’ll hear the R-Spec coming long before you see it. It really is that loud.
The car:
You will probably never be able to afford an M-Sport rally car – and you almost certainly wouldn’t want to drive one any distance on the road, either… but this might just be the next best thing.
Number 7 of 50 built it has had just two owners from new, and a mere 3, 350 miles on the clock. Supplied in immaculate condition with a fresh service - which includes a brand new genuine wet belt - and four new Michelin tyres, this Transit is ready for the open road. And, possibly, a trip to the garden centre at the weekend. Just don’t spill paint in the back…
