The TC Midget was the first postwar MG, and was launched in 1945. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1, 250 cc (76 cu in) pushrod-OHV engine with a slightly higher compression ratio of 7. 4:1 giving 54. 5 bhp at 5200 rpm. The makers also provided information for several alternative stages of tuning for "specific purposes". The XPAG engine is well known for its tunability. All TCs utilized a 12 volt electrical system, 19" Dunlop wire wheels, and automatic mechanical timing advance built into the ignition distributor. It was exported to the United States, even though the car was only ever built in right-hand drive. 10, 001 TCs were produced, from September 1945 (chassis number TC0251) to November 1949 (chassis number TC10251), more than any previous MG model.
This beautiful MGTC was imported from the U. K. in August of 1969, and had one owner from 1971 until 2023. A frame up restoration was completed in 1989, with the motor rebuild by University Motors later. The 1250 cc motor in this car is a factory replacement with proper engine tag stating such. All chrome was replated and remains in excellent condition. The correct leather upholstery with proper vinyl door panels were used along with canvas top, tonneau cover, and side curtains. A handsome walnut dash, Brooklands steering wheel, temperature gauge complete the restored interior. The car is equipped with stainless steel exhaust, luggage rack, electronic distributor, and Tompkins steering box kit. It also has the original owners manual and hand crank. There are numerous receipts and photo album available of the restoration.
