Description
Back in the 1960s and 70s the Alfa Romeo Spider was the connoisseur`s choice for an open sports car compared with the main-stream competitors from MG, Fiat and others. The well-known “Nord” aluminum engine with its double overhead camshafts, 2 double carburetors, 5 speed aluminum transmission and ATE disc brakes on all wheels was highly regarded standard equipment for the model. In 1971 the powerful 2 litre engine with 131 bhp was introduced along with bigger brakes and LSD on the rear axle. All just adding to a technical level, which the competitors couldn’t match at all. The Series II model with its sharply cut Kamm-rear just oozes classic Italian style and elegance, and every trip behind the wheel provides heavy doses of “dolce vita”.
This Spider was restored by ourselves, including a complete dismantle of the body and not just a simple repaint. The body was completely grinded to bare metal – including engine and luggage compartment – followed by a few repairs and a thorough alignment of doors and bonnets. Even the undercarriage was grinded and painted! The bodywork was completed with a very high quality paint in the classic color of Grigio Chiaro Metallizzato. It suits the Spider so well together with the black interior, of course also made new, handmade by our interior workshop in order to reach top finish. Even the handsome Hellebore wooden steering wheel was carefully restored by our furniture carpenter. Technically the car is in top condition, with the engine having been restored less than 5, 000 km ago. The powerful 2 liter Nord engine is fitted with 2 K&N air filters, providing you with the purest and clearest Alfa sound one can imagine.
Driving the car is pure Dolce Vita – it doesn’t get better than driving an Alfa Spider with the top down. Simply just ready to be enjoyed.
