Aston Martin went through a bit of a renaissance at the turn of the millennium with the 2001 release of the Vanquish. By 2004, it was time to replace the DB7, which had served as the brands "volume" model (only 7, 000 units were produced, but that was far more than the 512 examples of the fully hand-built Virage) since its release ten years prior. For the new car, Aston Martin developed the "VH" platform, which served underneath every subsequent model through 2016. With a 6. 0L V12 producing 450hp, the car offered a top speed of 186mph.
A dramatically more modern suspension ensured the new DB9 kept its promise of grand touring excellence.
