The Sportster model is as intrinsic to Harley-Davidson as the thump of those classic engines. A huge range of models have been available over the years, of which the high-compression ‘XLH’ 883 is surely one of the most appealing. The 2001 Sportster 883 Custom is powered by an air-cooled 883cc Evolution V-Twin mated to a 5-speed gearbox, offering 50bhp and 66Nm of torque at 4, 600rpm.
The Bike:
This smart example has covered less than 9, 000 miles and presents very well. Traditional Harley features include the tall, chromed riser, a drag-style handlebar, a chrome bullet headlight, a laced front wheel, a disc rear wheel, a one-piece, low-profile, two-up seat, forward-mounted foot controls, and low-profile rear shocks. The current owner has not ridden the bike since acquiring it four years ago, and it has been dry-stored ever since. It is confirmed to be running; however, some recommissioning may be advisable before returning it to regular use. Supplied with a current V5C and some paperwork.
